我們不能不對電影中再現的風景小心翼翼地看待，而單純視風景為膚淺的物質或功能性的過場鏡頭。美國電影學者Martin Lefebvre在2006年編輯出版的學術專書《Landscape and Film》可以說宣告了這種電影研究的新興取徑，也是一種將電影作為第八藝術和西方繪畫藝術史具體結合起來的思維方式。
